This is a simple one, but I've heard too many stories of go pros and other devices slowly sinking to the bottom. The solution: Cut a 3" piece of pool noodle and tie it on! Why a noodle? 1) because my kids have too many in the garage they don't use, and 2) slice it open and it 'clips' conveniently onto a thwart to stay out of the way.

(inReach mount discussed in this thread )

Mine is always clipped to my day pack that sits in front of me, but this makes me think I should do this. So guess I'll be cutting up some pool noodles for mine.

Looks simple and lightweight. Have you tested how big a piece you need for certain weight? I don't have any noodles, but end of season sales should be starting soon.

Kind-of. But buoyancy is going to be determined by the weight of the object versus its volume (or, the volume of water it displaces). So it will be different for each object that you wish to float.

Even the 3" is overkill for this device. I sunk it in the kitchen sink a few times. The inReach has some buoyancy on its own, just not quite enough to stay afloat without some help.
