I've run on treadmills at gyms and YMCAs and never had an issue, but those are usually top-of-the-line. I'm heavier than my wife (190 to her 125), but it doesn't seem like 190 should be too heavy for a treadmill? I run slower than she does, so I'd think I would be putting less stress on the machine than she is? Any ideas? thanks! Adam |

Your added weight does put more of a load on the motor. It seems counterintuitive but the treadmill does carry you for a brief period of time with every step. A slower pace may even increase the load as the period of time it "carries you" is longer than with a faster pace. My guess is the main trouble is the strip; probably made for electronics and the load the motor places on it when you run throws the breaker. |
