They say "Laughter is the best medicine" and you gave me a big "Dose" with that one (LOL)! |

12/12/2016 07:41PM I guess it depends if you need to tell someone where you're going. As almost always tandem, the person in back can usually find which campsite the person in front is at. |

But when someone describes a spot as "near the site that's on the first little bay after the portage, just past the site that's on the bigger island shaped like my grandma's liver spot," it gets to be a guessing game more tedious than necessary. :-) |

I still probably won't use them myself as I'm so used to describing where it is on the map. Hard to teach an old dog...... |

12/10/2016 09:38PM It seems they all have two numbers actually. There is a sequential list into the thousands but also a "lake" number, all sites on a lake numbered starting at 1. You usually see this painted or marked on the thunderbox. I've never seen the lake numbers charted or on maps. |

12/10/2016 05:51PM Boone has it right. I would think the forest service has a complete list. If anyone knows if this list is published, please post. Thanks |

12/10/2016 12:29PM Click on "Maps & Entry Points" at the top, choose a lake on the BWCA Lake Maps and click on the dot to see the campsite # and other info. |
