IIRC we were on middle of Louisa night 5 and Sunday night 6.

We saw no one from before Wet to Agnes. There had been three days of high wind - did not affect us - and there were probably 6 or 7 different groups crossing from Bayley to Burke as we were leaving - all wind bound on Inlet.

quote billconner: "I'm struggling with planned Man Chain to Agnes piece. But PP to Carp, Man Chain, Falls Chain, McEwen, Glacier, Louisa, and out through Agnes by one of several routes is one of my all time favorite trips - nearly 4 days of seeing no other party in July. We did it in 6 nights and a bit of a hump for me. 7 or 8 would have been nicer but except Bayley Bay no big water."

It's funny how luck plays a role. I did that exact route in early August a few years ago, and was disappointed at the lack of solitude. We saw multiple parties every day. The OP should be good going in June however.

Took us six nights, though we got a late start the first day but we made up for it on the last day as we made it out from Louisa.

I did that route with my then 12 year old soon 11 years ago. Towed to PP, Carp, Man Chain, Falls Chain, Kawnipi, Agnes, Meadows, Sunday, PP. True we were not hurrying but it was 12 days. You would have to really hustle to do that in 5 days IMHO. Big water.

Other Man lake to Kawnipi via Falls Chain looks like a bit of work. A couple rods of portages between the two.

Great route. Lots of scenery and falls. Some would rather take the southerly route from the Falls Chain down to Louisa via Glacier...a bit more work, but much more solitude than Agnes/S-Chain....

Doing something similar, but adding in kashapiwi area for a little more "adventure."

Are you taking falls chain to kawnipi? How are you getting to Agnes?

Hello All,

I am planning a solo trip into Quetico during the month of June. Thinking about the Carp EP, then going north through the Man chain, south on Agnes and S chain, then end at PP/Moose.

I'm trying to avoid bigger water, although Agnes has some size.

This loop is never discussed(here or Beymers book) but seems like it offers a lot of solitude, scenery, and waterfalls.

1. Is there a reason?

2. Any thoughts or other route suggestions?

I will probably cast a fishing line occasionally, but not a priority.

I already have the Carp EP reserved and I have up to two weeks available(wife gave me a pass!)
