08/03/2023 04:28AM Nice report. If you liked Abbey's book and have read nothing else of his take a look at Desert Solitaire. His desert wilderness writings are not out of place in the canoe wilderness on the US Canada border. If you have not paddled in the southwest the Green River is a must. Flat water canyon perfect for a canoe. Its also the heart of Abbey country and the setting for much of the Monkey Wrench Gang. |

07/31/2023 12:21PM I sympathize with you being out of shape. The last time I went that way I got dehydrated and my blood pressure got very low. We took a break and I layed down on the ground and ants were crawling on my arm. Saw a guy on tv eating ants once, so I tried them. They tasted like berries. after about 100 ants, I felt better. So now I travel with hydration multiplier and take about 3 of them per day so I don't have to eat ants. |

07/13/2023 04:02PMSummerSkin: "We did the same route in early June. I think we stayed at the same campsites on Mack and Kawnipi. We thought about trying to find a way around the bog into Mack based on reports from this site. In the end, we went through it instead of around it. It’s not the worst I’ve been through. Surprisingly we saw nobody else on Mack. Other reports here from early June made it sound like it was a highway at rush hour. |

07/07/2023 08:35AM We did the same route in early June. I think we stayed at the same campsites on Mack and Kawnipi. The bog going into Mack is no joke. Did you get through it or bushwhack around it? Did you see anyone else on Mack while you were there? |

07/02/2023 08:36AM A month earlier we had folks go down at those same spots - that slick rock on Dead Man's portage and the Canyon Falls portage where it crosses that small but steep ravine. Sounds like a great time! |

07/01/2023 08:14PM I enjoyed your trip report... thanks! Glad you finally caught a walleye. Where you stopped for shore lunch on Saganagons... is there a campsite there? Or was it a lunch spot or something else?? |

07/01/2023 05:48PM Your report was enjoyable to read! Glad the several slips and trips didn't result in worse injury...always scary in the wilderness. Good call keeping the northern, at least in my book. Nice photos and always great to find solitude and see wildlife. Thanks for sharing your trip! |
