hard to believe that trip was 20 years ago! any plans to retrace your steps with the same group of guys?

What a gem! You had (have?) a wicked sense of humor.

That was very enjoyable. Thanks

the absolute zero water was just water in a container sitting on the picnic table overnight. Not great for putting your hands in to wash dishes.

We actually did run across the ice and fall in... on purpose after the hot and sweaty portages. Looking at that heavy old gear now makes me cringe. :)

The journal doesn't talk about most of the fun stuff like that... dragging the canoes across the ice or running around on it with the intent on falling in cause it was actually pretty warm during the day.

It's fun for me to see how the memory forgets all the bad things and only remembers the good. I don't remember anything about the bad food, but I remember all kinds of other great things that weren't even mentioned in there.

I'm also amazed at how bad my writing was. hehe.

Since I don't have journals of my teenage trips and the snapshots are faded, I enjoyed this as a good substitute. When I think back, it boggles the mind that my parents let me do a lot of stuff with very little supervision when I was a teenager (although my Quetico trips had counselors, many other trips did not). What would have happened if one of you kids had fallen into the absolute zero water with ice still on top? Anyway, I loved it, and if anyone else has teenage stuff like that, please post.

Loved the trip report Brad - and the photos. Thanks for posting them as they were written - too bad the one page was missing :(
