03/19/2011 06:52AM PFP, great report. It is getting even more fun to go back and read these as "calendar spring" is here. I'm working on my first trip report and would like to know how you got the pictures to show up big? My pictures all show up small and one has to double click and wait for each one if interested to see it. Would you please share how you got those pictures in there to show up that size? |

03/05/2011 07:43PM It was Like going home for me reading this...I took my sons here for our first trip to BWCA. I didn't care much for that 180 portage, but I liked the paddle up Cherokee Creek to Cherokee it was awesome. I will never forget the paddle into N. Temperance, as it is a very serene paddle. I enjoyed the part about forgetting the paddle's as sounds like something I would do. Oh and the part about the stick moving, oh wow. We went in Early August and you in late Fall, so enjoyed the picture differences. Thank You for Sharing. SunCatcher |

03/05/2011 10:02AM Thanks for sharing PFP. I have that route on my bucket list and it just moved up! BTW - you didn't mention that you re-washed that cookware after you found the mouse. Something you might consider before any trips this year - just saying... |

02/23/2011 12:06PM Very nice report. We went through the Cherokee - Sawbill area last summer and I would vote Cherokee one of the prettiest lakes in the area. Cherokee Creek was fun with the beaver dam and moose sightings we had. I want to go back to that area this summer but the others want to head farther east. Maybe the trip after this one??? Thanks for sharing. |

01/28/2011 08:24PMquote Corndog: "Great photography and lovely narrative." What he said. ^^ Great report. It's a really beautiful area. I've been through there twice on my trips and really enjoyed paddling the narrow channel of ada creek as well. I had a somewhat similar experience with a mouse and dish water as well but it was while we were deer hunting. About 90 percent of the way done doing dishes for 15 guys, our 32 gallon barrel of collected rain water ran out. When I went to switch to the next barrel I noticed a very rotten and bloated mouse decaying at the bottom of the barrel I had just used to wash all of the dishes. Needless to say, I rewashed them all with clean water. Pretty gross thing to find in your water. Thanks for sharing pastor |

01/26/2011 07:20PM I think that mouse would've got the best of most everybody?! Being you had such fantastic weather that probably evened out your wilderness karma? :) Great report & photos. Thanks for sharing. TB |

The next night on Cherokee was in the upper 20s, but after that I think our lows were in the 40s and maybe high 30s. We only had wind problems on one day, and it really wasn't that horrible. 01/25/2011 12:38PM Wonderful trip report - and great pictures. I've always wanted to camp on Cherokee - and your story really inspired me to get there one day! |

01/25/2011 09:05AM paddlefasterpastor - Thank you for the trip report. It is a very good read and you took some superb photos. It's great to see different types of trip photos like the one of the person writing in their journal. You should consider entering the photo of the canoe entering Sawbill Lake in the January 2011 photo contest with the "Entry Points" theme. The composition and fall colors are great. I am glad you were able to buy some paddles to replace the ones you forgot. Luckily they were available close by! Amazing weather! I remember watching the weather reports for the Arrowhead region during that time last year and hoping people were taking advantage of it. I wish I could have! I think I am going to get one of those hammocks for naps. |
