Alone - this is a book about a guy who fell overboard in a storm in the Indian ocean by Indonesia, he spent over 24 hours in the water before being rescued. Obviously he couldn’t have written the book if he had died, nor would anyone known what happened to him and that’s one problem with the book, you know the ending!
Adrift – A man & a woman sail from Polynesia to San Diego and get caught in a hurricane, again at least one has to survive to write the book. There is also a movie which I suggest watching first if you are going to do both. Both are nice diversions in January.

In the mid 1980s a book about a solo sailor who capsized and spent 76 days in a raft came out. It is called Adrift and was an incredible read. Your mention of this new book with the same title brought back an old memory.
the one I posted took place in 1983 and was originally called Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss, and Survival at Sea since it is January you might enjoy the trailer , the movie was shot in the south Pacific https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If2lCD0SQrE

I like Shailene Woodley. Will definitely catch the movie when it's streaming on a platform that I have.
I want to mention one more I loved in this genre. It's the true tale of a family of 6 who sailed the world in a Catamaran. It's very well told by the wife.
117 Days Adrift by Maurice and Maralyn Bailey Sailboat sunk by a whale west of the Galapagos Islands in 1973.
Survive the Savage Sea by Dougal Robertson Sailboat sunk by whales west of the Galapagos islands in 1971. Family of 6 survives 38 days adrift. 21 of those days in a 9 foot dinghy after the liferaft becomes unusable.
Ghosts of Cape Sabine by Leonard Guttridge The harrowing story of the Greely Expedition to the Arctic in 1881.
In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick The story of the sinking of the whaleship Essex in 1820. The event is said to be the inspiration for Moby Dick.
Lost in the Arctic by Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen This book is a "lost" classic that is worth tracking down. Story of the shipwreck of the Alabama Expedition to Greenland in 1909-1913.
