If you watched the 2018 Winter Olympics, and probably even if you didn’t, surely you recall the first ever US gold medal finish in Cross Country skiing, women’s team sprint freestyle to be exact, by Kikkan Randall and MN native Jessie Diggins. The announcer went nuts as she took the lead in the final seconds, and so did we. The book is basically an autobiography not just of the Olympics, but her life. And part of what made her an Olympic champion is paddling the same lakes as we do, and skiing the same trails too. She is an experienced BWCA and Quetico tripper from a very early age.
