I stumbled across an article about the Spider Lake chain of lakes in Washburn County, WI, maybe ten miles north of Birchwood. Has anyone been there? Are there campsites? Thoughts on the fishing? I'm thinking it could be a nice little solo getaway place this summer.

Never been there Pete. Not sure what the rules are on the County Land shorelines for camping. Looks like there are some homes/docks on the lakes. If you want a quick solo....and quiet....maybe check out the Bittersweet Natural Area up by Arbor Vitae, or some of the other NAHL canoe routes.
Thanks Phil. Debbie and I paddled the Bittersweet Chain last summer. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Definitely on the list of possibilities for a re-visit.
