2 families with 5 kids ages 10-16 will be camping and fishing next June. I have been in the BW 8 times prior but typically did either Basswood or Lac La Croix. Is Carp Lake a good smallmouth Lake?? How about Walleye?

It has one short portage so we can lug much gear. (wife and Kids) How is the camping?

I am hoping the portage and the fact that it is not a link to another large body of water might make it more remote any input??

Carp lake is pretty good for smallies......AND you can catch some decent LM Bass also. I've not done too good on walleyes, but I assume they are there.

Checkout my site: http://www.geofisher.com My 2005 trip was to Birch, Carp, Fisher, Emerald, etc, etc.

I also hear that lakers can be caught there, but I've never fished for them.

Are you planning on BW or Quetico, because 90% of CARP is in Quetico.

Finally, don't expect seclusion........CARP is full of campsites, and you will see about 1 or 2 billion people :)

We paddled through Carp last June. It would be a higher traffic lake due to its location. It is on the main route up into Knife Lake coming from the southwest. There is only one campsite on the US side of the border. We didn't stop to check it out, but it looked nice from the water. The Quetico side has many more campsites possibilities, but it probably gets traffic to/from the Man chain to the north.
