Spent last Friday through Tuesday on Hudson, Insula and Thomas. My Thomas report is the easiest as we were blown off the lake by a big storm. We trolled rapalas 30 feet down which produced northern and 1 walleye. We banged the bottom using a 3 way swivel and spoons 3 feet back looking for Lakers with no success. We were only able to do 1 pass before the storm hit. Insula produced northerns at will in 15 to 25 feet of water with #9 & #11 rapalas. 1 36"er plus is all, but plenty of action, and great eating size. We camped on Hudson and spent most of our time on Hudson. Again trolling for Northerns produced, but we struggled to find walleyes. We pounded minnows and worms off the rocky bottom at different points in the lake that looked like no-brainer walleye spots. We tried 25', 20', 15' 10'. The Marcum showed fish at all levels. Only 1 walleye greater than 20", the rest were 12" and smaller and those were very sporadic. We hit it at dawn and dusk. Weather patterns were inconsistent and the water was still around 60 degrees. We use that as our excuse, but most likely it was the guys holding the rods in the canoes. Good luck to all fall fisherman! We had a blast on our trip and looking forward to next year. Thanks again to TGO for the great advise and bait and double thanks to Canoe Country Outfitters for taking care of us once again.
