I'm not a great fisherman. I'll fish as part of a canoe trip, but it's never priority one. My sons, on the other hand, live to fish these days. Our annual trip will be up the Little Indian Sioux North toward Slim, then over toward Finger and Pocket. We'll either loop back around through LLC or zip down through Gebby-Oyster or Agnes.
We'll be there in mid-June and the boys are talking about getting the grand slam. Any suggestions on how to help them with this goal?
Done this route a few times. If you want the grand slam, head into Fat Lake for good numbers of pan sized trout. Finger is a decent Waldo Lake. Fish around the big rock/small “island” to the NW of the island with the campsite. You could also try your luck with trout on LLC just north of Lady Boot Bay, but it may be hard to target them in such deep water without a flasher. This is a great route and you should have decent success fishing throughout the trip. Best of luck!!!
As far as tackle bring some #13 rapalas, purple tail Dancers, Zara super Spook, spoons. The most important thing is to bring leeches and slip bobbers. Find rocky points, and points right next to shallow bays, where the fish have access to deeper water.
