FOUR OF US ARE PLANNING A TRIP FROM MAY 16 - 2O THIS YEAR. WE PLAN TO CAMP NEAR ALPINE LAKE. OUR FOCUS WILL BE ON FLY FISING AND SPIN TACKLE. WOULD LIKE TO FISH FOR SMALL MOUTH, WALLEYE, LAKE TROUT, NORTHERN PIKE AND BROOK TROUT. THIS IS THE FIRST ATTEMPT FOR ALL BUT ONE OF US.
ANY ADVICE TO IMPROVE OUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

depending on how the weather has been, crawlers may be working better than leeches.

At our bait shop we usually recommend crawlers that early in the season, though having some leeches is not a bad idea for a back up.

JIMH--look under the "View" menu on your web browser. On IE there's something called "Text Size." On Mozilla/Firefox it's called "Text Zoom." Click that up a few notches and all text should be bigger/easier to read, without using caps.

Also Smallmouth season doesn't open till the next week I believe, so you can't technically fish for them...but my thought on that was I'll just fish for walleye or pike and if I happen to catch a smallie release him immediately.

Smallies open early in the BWCA, 5/13 this year. In fact there are a zillion exceptions.
I'm going to Basswood on 4/27 and will legally be fishing for smallies. See page 45 of the '06 MN regs.

Guest Paddler,

Another way to increase the size font, really easy is;

Hold the Ctrl key down and roll your cursor ball, roller (or whatever it looks like) up or down.

I noticed that the typed stuff on here doesn't change, but it changes the rest of the whole screen.

Some sites, it changes everything.
