I am going into an area of BWCA with lots of shallow lakes, streams, and small creeks on August 9. Is it worth fishing these shallow waters, moving waters, and weed beds? Or, is it best to focus on the deeper sections of the lakes? Any suggestions/ information would be greatly appreciated.

We are going in at Stuart river and coming out via Moose Lake. In between we will spend a couple of days on Iron Lake and Lake La Croix. I think the loop is about thirty miles and we are covering it in six days. We should have plenty of time to fish.
I noticed on the map that Mule creek, Mule Lake, and White Feather Lake would probably have low fishing pressure, due to location, and might provide for some excellent fishing. However, I am not much of a lake fisherman and I don't know much about the depth factor.
Any info you could provide would be very helpful and appreciated.

Casey I would forget about the streams and creeks and move on to the lakes you have plenty of lakes with deep water, Stuart lake, Iron lake, Lac La Croix and Agnes lake. You should concentrate on these Lakes.
My Formula for fishing in August in the BWCA
Smallmouth- Use surface lures 1st hour of light and last hour of light on every tree that fell in the water, Boulders, Islands, or any structure. Then I start trolling drop offs and points with Rapalas until I get into some Walleyes then I stop and start Jigging w/twister tails. Trolling is a good way to locate fish on unknown waters. You will also get northerns trolling.
