Is that part of the lake similar to the U.S. side. Is that area lake trout water at all. Any good campsites?

A lake with a border line drawn down it's center doesn't change on either side.
Also, Ottertrack has very large lakers in it.

Several sites on the western end but never stayed at any of them myself. Have basecamped at the site near the base of the falls at the Little Knife portage a couple of times. Good site with a spectacular view. Just far enough from the portage that other paddlers are not a problem. Plus some decent fishing at the base of the falls.

If you don't mind an uphill portage into gijikiki, there is a great island campsite on that lake and its got some deep holes for lakers. We named the entrance to that portage the hobbit hole.

We also stayed at the site west of monument portage (west of the portage into ester.) Really nice and open campsite that can accomodate a large group. Campsite is on right side of this pic where the canoe is headed. We caught many a large bass there.

The westermost campsite on Ottertrack is sweet. Lots of privacy and good swimming and fishing. Late in the evening walleyes up to 27" in the narrows, millions of bass, but I don't know about the trout. You're not too far from trout on knife and a couple of other smaller lakes off of Knife. Good Luck.
