Planning a trip next June for EP #30 through Horseshoe, N. Wilder, Hudson and fire. Wondering how the fishing was on this loop. DNR survey shows no smallies, just walleye and pike. Trip is in the planning stage, and we would be coming from Colorado. So, any info now would help.
Thanks

I went through that loop years ago, kinda quiet and off the beaten path, for being so close to the mobs of people on 1,2,3&4 and all those traveling on to Insula.
All I remember were Northerns and Walleye but Michael Furtman's book claims there are also Blue Gill and Yellow Perch in North Wilder. Being so close to Lake 4 I don't know how the fishing is today. L.T.sully has been in there in the last few years, you might ask him.

We are planning for the middle of June. Good fishing from what I have read, but a tad buggy. Tentativly hope to do from One to Horseshoe, to N. Wilder, To Hudson, to Fire back through Four, Three, Two, One. Is this a do-able trip. Taking 6 days mostly to fish, and decompress.

I'm not sure about most of your route. However, I do know that Hudson has some very good fishing. we have had some of my best Bluegill fishing in Hudson and it holds some nice size Smallies.
We have caught a lot of Walleyes...not trophies but good size eaters.

The route should be quite easy, the # lakes are a little overfished, but are good for pike bass, and walleye. North Wilder has Pike, and Walleye, but their secret is the bluegill, you should be able to get panfish on N Wilder, and Fire.

Thanks for the info. Don't need trophy fish, just some for a couple of dinners, and enough to keep us busy. It's been 30 yrs for me since I've been in the BWCA. Didn't get any fishing in last time due to a death in our party on day 1. So, it should be an adventure.
