I remember reading a post on Fool-a-Fish spray. Has anyone used it yet??????

I usually don't use this type of stuff, but was wondering if anyone has any results. Does it work? Or is it a waste of money to purchase?

That is a good question. I remember seeing the weekend morning fishing shows were every pro was using a scent. Now I don't see it as often. I am bringing in some to the BWCA this year. Does anyone think they work, and if so what type do you use?

I Just started using scents for musky fishing. I don't think it will trigger a strike but it may make the fish hold the bait longer before you set the hook. However, I don't think we will be bringing the scent along to the Bdub because of the two mile portage. I don't even want to bring the bug spray.

I can attest that fool-a-fish might work. I was out for opener last weekend with Landmgr. He was using the fool-a-fish while trolling crankbaits late night Friday (12 - 4am). He caught a walleye, pike, and bass. I on the other hand caught nothing and I know he is not that much of a better fisherman.

I don't know if the Fool-a-Fish 'works' per se, but it didn't hurt, as the Flying Finn has already alluded to. I did catch a nice pike, bass, and walleye within about an hour simply trolling a crankbait while my fishing companion caught nada!

I would bet that it was my superior fishing prowess that fooled those fish into biting!!!

I will be bringing a small spray bottle of the stuff into the B-Dub over Memorial Day and will try and remember to report back on continued effectiveness!!!

Fool-A-Fish is probably for real. UV light penetrates water better (deeper) than visible light and ultrafine Titanium Dioxide is a well know UV light scatterer. Many saltwater fish are known to have good UV sensitivity, I'll bet deepwater fresh water fish do too. Fool-A-Fish probably helps a lure get a fish's attention. Whether it decides that it likes what it sees is another question.
