i have a trip planned for mid september. im only bringing one rod/reel and i want to keep my tackle to a bare minimum...im limiting myself to a pocket-sized tacklebox... 7"x3.5"x1.5" deep. all species are present on this loop. live bait is not an option.

what would you pack? (this is a real question, not a "what if"...id like suggestions)

two poles for sure, Shad rap/tail dancer for sure, Jigs for sure. Everything else is open to opinion. I brought one pole once and didn't expect to beark it on a 8 poun pike snapped it in half. Had to drive in and get a new one. Totally sucked. bring two. For me. lol

I brought one pole last summer. Broke the tip twice ... think it was about two feet long by the end of the trip. ... still worked for trolling though.

Red & White DareDevil or Yellow Five of Dimonds One or the Other for sure. Floating Rapala - Original color. ALWAYS WORKS!!!
Mepps Spinner who cares what kind. R & W Lazy Ike, a floating topwater lure of choice. I have more Ideas but I am tierd
SunCatcher.
PS These Work ANYWHERE.

Take some # 2 and #3 Mepps spinners, Small shad raps, some spoons in the 1/3 oz size. Too many people bring lures that are too big, stay small and you will get fish.

Jig heads, gulp minnows and gulp curly tails in white and black.
I'd take more than one pack though. I only took one pack of the black one year. It was the hot color and I used 6 on one reef. They lasted two days. Plus it doesn't take up much room to slip a few packs in the bottom of your food bag. I'd take a few rapala cranks and a few spoons. Add a few trolling weights and you're set. Slip sinkers and #6 hooks if you have to. That's the time of year I go up too, topwater is pretty nonexistant that time of year but a buzz bait for pike in the early morning can be fun.

Forget the everclear and upgrade to Bushmills. Pour yourself a glass, then worry about your second rod. Priorities should prevail.

With all these suggestions, I don't think a pocket sized tackle box will work out....

I hate to break it to you kanoes.... Your trying the impossible. Its like trying to change a flat tire with a vice grip your intentions are good but it just ain't gunna happen.

Twister tails (pink, white and brown) and corresponding jig heads. I have caught more fish on the simplest baits than I every have on fancy rapalas!
