going into Cherokee on Saturday. Have read previous posts on how to and how deep to catch trout. Anyone caught trout in cherokee? If so how deep this time of year it looks like a big and deep lake. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Miles

A good friend of mine just returned on Wednesday and he his 8 year old daughter caught a laker in 15' of water. He said they were fishing with a sinking shad rap, fish was big enough to feed 5. I am pretty sure they where at the north end of the lake (deepest section).

I've caught countless trout in Cherokee in May over the years. They're 5-10' down then. For the best luck get to 50' this time of year.

Thanks for the advice. Have been unable to log on with home computer and finally back from trip and back to work where I logged on. We caught four Northern three of these from camp site using smelt. Caught the other trolling large shallow shad rap. Tried for trout only a few times with no luck. Combination of friends who didn't want to fish much and windy conditions. The northerns tasted great. Did two of them in foil over fire and the other two we fried up with shore lunch brand Cajun.

Too bad about the trout, but I'm not surprised. Try it in May/June next time. Hope you had fun nonetheless.

Hmm, wind eh, that's odd.... :)
