What species would you target and would you look for, a deeper lake or a shallower one? I've heard that the northerns really turn on in the cooling water and the walleyes can be tough to get! Just checkin with you guys!

last year our trip started in mid sept. the 15th.
wife and i were base camped on caribou, off clearwater lake.
the smallies were hot on the sunny days.
we drifted shorelines, caught them in 15ft of water.
walleyes were caught with gulp minnow baits on or near the bottom with a 1/8 jig setup.

Thanks a bunch! I figured that myself as far as the type of structure! I normally fish fertile prairie style lakes and do well night fishing them with waders and my neutrally buoyant plugs in the fall but these Oligotrophic lakes are fairly new to me! Mainly we will be after 'eyes but swedes(thats what we call Northerns), wont be off the menu, and bass are C&R then! Thanks again, later guys!
