you can keep it simple by taking rapala minnow baits and twister tails, white in color, 1/4 oz. round head jigs.
rapala's come in no. sizes. i would take a few no. 7, and 11's.
cast your baits into the pools below the rapids.
i would go with the 3, or 4 inch twister tail.
white resemble minnows.
6-8 lb test line, mono.
good luck!

At that time of the year most fish are going to be in the deeper water, so you can use a Lindy Rig with live leeches, or various Gulp (scented soft plastics)shapes/colors.

Also, a count down rappala with black top, gold sides and white belly has been my overall most productive lure, regardless of the time of year. I think it sure would be worth your while to take at least a couple of these puppies along with you.

Walleye will be deeper 18 to 30 feet, use leeches, Smallmouth will be 2 to 25 feet, if its raining go shallow and at night go shallow for both walleye and smallmouth with rapalas. I didnt mention pike because august is not their best time, i would just take a nap after catching walleyes and smallies :-)

isabella river after Quadga portage and the fallowing 35 rod portage toss in a lindy with a leech or a gulp minnow. i used white and natural colors and had luck with both.

do you know your route plan yet or are you getting routed by an outfitter? island river to farm lake can be done rather easy with two layover days. the last part of the isabella river was not the best fishing but there are fish.

heres the trip i did in may.

i think the link adder is broken? ill edit it if the link shows when i post! My trip report is for this area also. I have been on the exact route your taking few times.

Get a permit for 2 days on South Farm and do it right away as they limit how maney they give out.
Bets tip ! DO NOT I repeat! DO NOT get any DEET Or Soap on your hands when fishing. Or any other bug spray. Wear a head net if needed.

They are now writing articles about how 1 part per Million will drive all the fish away. They cannot stand the smell. Gas or Oil they like.

Crawlers on a floating lindy slow trolled or drifted. The eyes will be deeper for the most part. Twisters ,countdowns, leeches its all good advice.

Rapid Runner, your Bing map is cool. I'd like to try using that site but I can't figure out how to get started on a "user contribution." Help?

Thanks (edit) Never mind ... I think I've figured it out.
