Just got back from a week on Snowbank. It was a bit slow last week, but here are a few tips. First, the best campsite (IMO) is on Half-Burnt Island in the extreme North end of the lake. Great swimming can be had off the rocks there (the weather will be hot). The best fishing at this time of year will be close to there as well. Try the reefs around the small islands directly South of the campsite. Decent bass last week were holding in about 20' of water; walleyes were more like 30'. Lake trout can be had just East of the small islands. We marked a lot holding around 60' and hooked one near the bottom in 45' in that area. The South end of the lake is a bit of a different story. It is much shallower and nice fish can be had near the sparce weedbeds, or along the reefs and ridges. Let me know where you are planning to stay and I may be able to offer more specific help...

Thanks....This will be our first time on Snowbank. We had planned to try and get an island campsite. Any info you can give us is helpful. My son just graduated high school and as a graduation present wanted to go with a few friends to the boundary waters. I'm just trying to find out as much info as I can to give us a shot to have the best experience we can. Any suggestions on lures, bait..etc would be helpful...Thanks again

The spot Husker mentioned is really nice. I think most of the island sites will find you close to walleye, smallies and lakers. As the sun starts to set, try 12-18' depths for walleyes with a simple leech or crawler presentation, maybe on a jig. Don't be surprised if you get the occassional walleye in shallow water if big boulders are present. Although you might have some slow periods, this lake can really come alive at times.

Although I didn't catch any walleye there, the site on one of the small islands in the middle of north half of the lake (Sister #1?) seems like a decent fishing possibility (I have caught a laker near there, in abt 60'), and your view of the night sky would be fantastic.
I've had more luck with walleye in the southwest third of the lake.
