Look at the wet slimy gaping lipped, wide eyed specimen in that photo.

Looks like a picture from my ex-wife's baptism.

Did it take a few hard runs at least? Carp are known for that and are the most sought after gamefish world wide I believe.

03/20/2010 07:33AM
Carp are a great gamefish. Just really ugly.

A #8 yellow hook (Note to MOGirl ) + 8 Lb test mono = about 20 minutes of fun. Just not the fish I was looking for.

I hooked into one a couple years ago while catfishing. It was about 12lbs, and I thought I had hooked into a 20lb cat. It gave me a good fight. MOGirl was there too!

Here's a nice one I caught in Iraq. Not sure on the weight as I released it. Different species, grass carp. Definately a lot of fun though.

A few common carp also

I think I beat you today Izzy. I was fishing for Hybrid Stripers and thought I had a state record until it showed itself 15 minutes after hitting.

Some sort of Buffalo.

Nice - looks like a Bigmouth Buffalo but without a good shot of the head/mouth it is hard to be 100% certain

05/15/2010 07:26AM
Ahhhhh? g?

05/15/2010 08:09AM
Yep - you got me beat there ! Even the scales of your fish are bigger. Nice work.

My wife Teri caught a catfish in a friend of mine's pond. We were just fishing for bluegill with worm, hook, and bobber. When she said, "Did you see the size of that tail swim by?" and then BAM! Her line was going out. I let her bring it in with some coaching and helped her get it on shore. She was so excited! 27 1/2" about 15-18lbs.

Caught this 8lb 14oz carp last night. I've personally never caught a fish this big before and it was quite an experience.

Thanks! She goes to the Boundary Waters with me now every year. Never complains. Our longest trip is 6 days 5 nights. Planning a 10 day 9 night. She can't wait.
