Should be great top Water fishing for Smallmouth Bass.
Rapala Skitter Pops, Rebel Pop-R, Hendon Torpedos to get you started.

I'm a Rebel Pop-R guy myself. Color seems to matter very little. They are keying on the pop. Try rubbly, shady shorlines before sundown.

Arbogast Hula and Rapala Skitter pops work for me.

I like to work a jitter-bug really slow.

I'm a big fan of the Rebel Pop-R also.

Might think about a 6 or 7 wt. flyrod. SMB top-water time is prime flyfishing.

we are putting in on June 14th. Can someone reassure me that the smb topwater action is still hot the 3rd week of june? :-)

Smallies will hit topwater anytime after the water warms up. Trolled Buzzbaits slay 'em in July and August.

Yup! Don't forget the morning and evening bites near shore structure, and if you are near any Largemouth Bass lakes , try them out too! Largemouth are a hoot in the Canoe Country.

Jitterbug is my favorite topwater of all time and its not even close. Its not that its really more effective than other topwaters, its just how explosive the strikes seem to be .

Water temps in early June will vary year to year - but if I had to guess 54 on big water would be close.

If you want to catch big fish use a lucky 13 in bullfrog color. If you just want to catch average sized fish use those little pop-r's or skitter pops, or chugbugs :-))

A great set up for smb is jerk-shads without any weight (just a worm/shad hook).
Not exactly floating - it slowly sinks, give it a twitch and comes up - looks like a wounded bait fish and can be deadly with the bass.

Everything mentioned I have done well with. Jitterbug in the evenings is my favorite in black or frog. Tiny Torpedo, floating Rapala, and the Pop-R are my favorites during the day.

I do really well on the hula popper I usually go with the smaller sizes because sometimes the smallies miss the hooks on the big ones. I've even caught a good amount of northern on hula poppers
