I'll let you know after this weekend - that is where we are heading...
I have fished Smoke and caught eyes and bass. My uncle has done well on Burnt.
A few others have commented on Flame and caught eyes and smb.

Camp on Flame if it is open. Flame,Smoke and Burnt are all pretty good. I like Flame myself and I will be there later on this year as well.

We stayed on the southern most site on Burnt last year and had great fishing for 4 days. Caught decent sized northerns all through the lake and had good luck with smallies and walleye around the rock islands popping up in the middle, especially around dusk. Didn't have much luck through Smoke coming in or heading out.

I fished Burnt for two days mid-July last year. Did well for smallies, bass & northerns mostly fishing the northwest end of the lake around some of the small islands. A 24" northern, 15" smallie and a couple 17" walleyes were the best fish of the trip. Mostly jigged/lindy rigged leeches at approx. 10 ft, but they were hitting some topwater lures, general Rappala cranks and softbaits as well. We didn't run out of leeches so for the most part kept using them. It wasn't fast & furious, but you should be able to catch enough for dinner for sure. Good luck!

Yeah right,I'm not going till the first week of July and I'm marking my calender. Haven't been for a couple of years. Went 22 years in a row. Can't wait.

Hopsing and KTorell,
I hope the fishing improves for you guys.
We fished hard (mostly on Flame and Burnt) for 3.5 days and only boated 7 walleye - mostly on lindy rigs with minnows.
When we got out we heard we did better than most...

The bite was very light - I bet I missed 5 times as many fish as I caught (and I know how to Lindy rig...)

Yep - we camped on Flame - it is okay for a site, one decent tent pad - two if you really need it. It's biggest draw is you have your own private lake.
I have a feeling we just hit it (and Burnt and Smoke) at the wrong time - saw plenty of fish on the graph - they were just very tough to catch...

You should be noticing a pattern here!

camped at sawbill campground and day tripped. Got back home monday.
Took us a while to find the eyes but we did. we (two guys) caught 33 walleyes in about 12 hours total fishing. All the walleyes were caught at the entrance of the bay on sawbill (13ft - 22 ft.) that leads to the kelso lake portage. The bite at this spot started at 7pm.. No fish to speak of before that. One small northern on kelso. Nothing on Alton. We never made it to smoke or burndt and heard the bite was non-existant.
had a great time and got to eat alot of fish. saw a cow moose and two calves. saw the dolmen rock. its a beautiful area. saw the pitcher plants. missed a good storm.

by the way if anyone finds the rod and reel that went to the bottom of alton lake about 30 yards off the kelso to alton portage its mine.(zebco quantum on a red 6ft rod), chartruse jig head probably still attached.
swamped the canoe. not cold but my bud did have to perform minor surgery to get the rapala out of his finger that he was holding when the canoe tipped over. ouch!

good luck and hope to hear back from you.

ok, so the weather was pretty furious last Friday and getting to Flame and setting up camp was none to fun. In spite of that, we had Flame to ourselves with the only site on the lake and experienced some incredible fishing. We never left Flame, fished the bay with leeches and jigs - walleye action was pretty hot. We caught over a dozen walleyes in a matter of a couple of hours, kept 3 for the fry pan and called it a day.
