I've been heading up to the BW for the past 11 years and have had on and off success. Two years ago, caught multiple limits on Snowbank. Last year, not a single one on multiple lakes.
I usually fish Moose Lake cause that's where the cabin is, but I'm lookin to fish some different ones for big northern the week of May 24.
I was looking at Ensign, Wind, Wood, and Ojibway. Anyone have any tips for these lakes, or maybe a recommendation for another lake????
Thanks for the help!

Out of those three, I vastly prefer Ensign. Wood has an annoying portage, and once there mostly slimers and bass, but some walleye. Ojibway is a beautiful lake and easy, but given the water clarity, it is strictly an evening bite in my book. Ensign is great. We always did well there across the species board. It does tend to be a bit busy with canoe traffic going through though.

I am going to disappointment lake the third week of June. I was wondering how good of a pike lake disappointment lake is and what structure to look for on the lake maps? I know to look for weedlines facing deeper water, but what should the ideal structure look like on a topo map? Thanks

Regarding bringing a boat to Ensign. It firstly does not allow motors, so you would need to row. You *could* bring a small one in. There is one easy short portage and one pull through into Ensign if my memory serves me correct. It better be a dang small boat though if you want to carry it. Also, with the water levels as low as they are this year, I doubt you could do the pull through. That would mean something like another short 10 rod portage. I would just recommend a canoe though. Caught quite a few walleyes there, and lots of bass and northern. There are actually some monster walleyes in there, but you really have to know the right spots to go at the right time. This year with the weather it has been...who knows.
