My 18-year old has had some tough times lately and says he needs some quality time with me to camp and fish. How can I resist? He has seen all my pictures of Reindeer Lake pike but August is not great fishing there. I like the idea of canoe camping in BWCA but know little about the area or where there is a high probability of good fishing, especially big pike. I'll call outfitters but does anyone have good ideas for us?

Thanks!

I forgot to note that we plan to be gone 7-10 days.

We have done very well in Hoist Bay during the first week of August for the last several years. We caught several pike in the 32" to 36" range last year. Several smallmouth for the week with one weighing 5.8lbs. Walleye fishing has been good as well. Good location with access to some nice day trips like Basswood Falls. I hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.

Tough to beat Basswood for big pike.
