Lake one has some very good structure in it if you are willing to do some home work. I have seen and caught many walleye and northern in that lake.

Hello, I was planning on taking my kids to Lake One for a 3 day fishing trip. I have passed through this lake but never fished it. It sounds as if you have? I was wondering if you would be willing to share some of your thoughts on how to fish it for walleye, bass and northern as well as where to fish it?? I would very much appreciate it as well as my kids. I also have been to numerous other places in Quetico and BWCA and if you were looking for any info would answer any I could. you can email me at buckeyes11@charter.net if that would be easier. Thanks Tom

If you want an easy lake to get into with less people than Lake One and better fishing, you should enter at Hog Creek and paddle to Perent Lake.

Check out the area over near the Lake One "Dam" that begins the Kawishiwi river. There are a couple of nice campsites over in that area and with one of them, I think you can fish in the current of the river right from the back of your site. Lots of small bass to keep the kids entertained in that swift water. There's also some structure in the main lake in that area.

Hog Creek is EP #36. 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour paddle (depending how many wrong turns you take) down the creek w/a few beaver dams to pull over to get to Perent. My 5 year daughter was able to catch a few walleye in Perent. There are some very nice campsites that are on islands also.
