Just wondering how the fishing has been recently. We're heading up there in about 3 or 4 weeks and hoping everyone is doing pretty good so far this year.
Thanks all!
Thanks all!
Always be the second one in the outhouse, it's going to smell anyway so you might as well have a warm seat.

Bobby,
We just came back from that area. But we only spent one full day fishing Fourtown. the rest of the time was spent on Boot, Fairy, and Moosecamp lakes.
The fishing on Fourtown Lake was Very slow due in part to a recent Mayfly hatch. We caught most of our fish on Fourtown trolling. The fish we did cast for and saw would follow the lure and just turn away. Not very interested.
On the other hand the fishing on Fairy, Boot, and Moosecamp was great.
Not sure about your trip specifics if you have the time and are willing to do a little work portaging I would recommend getting away from the crowds and heading deeper into the BW for better fishing.
If you need specifics you can shoot me an email.

quote ILikePike: "bobby,
sounds like youll be up there when I am. we are heading in August 2nd and plan on basecamping on Horse. whens youre entry date?"
We go in on August 10. Planning to camp on Horse for the first nite so we can go to the Falls, then maybe spend one more night before moving to Fourtown or up towards Gunn/Gull lake.

I just came back 2 days ago from that trip. The fishing was very slow, but the weather was amazing. Bright and sunny every day. Between that and the mayflies, the fishing was tough. Boot, fairy, and moosecamp were not very impressive. Most of our fish were caught in the channels on fourtown in the early evening. Good Luck!

we caught mainly walleye on Horse with some pike, panfish, and few smallies, caught 2 largemouth though. caught most of the fish trolling. we caught enough fish to make us happy and we were pleased with our results for august.
we daytripped to Fourtown one day and there was 2ft waves. one group did really well trolling a wind pounded point. and my partner had a mid 30 inch northern attack a rock bass he was reeling in, right next to the canoe, it broke the line.
no monsters caught during the trip. for our group biggest walleye 24", northern 30", smallie 18".
