Ive always found that the deeper areas around falls and rapids tend to hold bigger walleyes, so Id like to plan next years trip with that in mind. Where is a good trip with these conditions? The bigger and deeper the falls the better. Thanks

My suggestion is that you expand your range. That mentality is like going into a fight with only one arm. Big waldos also inhabit reefs, points, wind-driven currents & shorelines, for a few examples. A better question would be which lakes/areas hold the bigger waldos?

I agree, you are right the deep wholes in or near rapids often hold nice fish, but that really limits you, and you lose out on a lot of other good spots. However, the rapids between Gabbro lake/Bald Eagle Lake, and between Bald Eagle lake/Kawishiwi river rapids are good examples of good rapids for eyes. Both of these lakes also have other good spots for catching fish.

Falls/rapids get a lot of fishing pressure, and not very much recruitment(new fish). Falls attract a lot of minnows, therefore predators, but a LOT of fisherpersons(?). Maybe look for a place that has fall/rapids, AND lakes nearby that produce good fish. Lot's of people cast at the rapids, but humps, narrows between shore/islands---island/island get very little real serious fishing presence. A fish at the rapids WILL get caught-and eaten, but main lake...lot of lake to roam...get fat...

90% of the fish are in 10% of the lake the faster water seems to hold fish early in the year. As the water warms up they move out to deeper water and reefs. I have to agree with the other post don't limit yourself. mho.
