Hi everyone. I would like to hear from you all on the best entry point into the bounary waters that provides the best fishing in your opinion. Time period is late june/early july. Late september is also an option. I have gone out of sawbill and kawishiwi and have encountered spectacular fishing. I want to try out some new entry points and would like to know you all opinion. thanks

My group would say that you might as well ask, "Where's the best tree?" or "Where's the best rock?" (well, yeah, Dorothy's... but you get the drift.) It seems that whenever we get to choosing an entry, they like 'em all. Just being there... that's the key.

The big border lakes are consistent producers.

sweady. what you are saying is the fishing at any entry point does not matter? I would have the same success no matter what?

For quality fishing (numbers and size), use entry points that'll put into LLC, Iron, Crooked, Basswood, Knife, and Saganaga.

Best EP for fishing?

I would say Kawishiwi lake EP 37 for me reasons, but I realize that you have already been there. Next I would consider Mudro as the second best EP for fishing. Moose lake EP 25 as a third place entry.

The fun of fishing absolutely does not depend on the entry point. The species you catch might, however. Nah, just tryin' to spread out the pressure... Have a good time wherever you're headed.

(Just don't go to Gabbro, or La Croix, or Shell, or Agnes, or Three, or Horse, or Clear, or Angleworm, or Disappointment, or N Kawishiwi, or Oyster, or Iron, or Basswood... because that's were I catch most of my fish when I'm away from home.)

To me the best entry point is about immediately being in a non moorized area or shortly after. Peace and quite.

The longer it takes you to paddle there and the more miles you portage the better the fishing and the more abundant the campsites...

Along those lines, what's in Adams Lake and Boulder Lake?

beaverjack -

click for the MN DNR lake finder - this is a good tool for lake info (including species), though bass are often difficult to sample and BW reports aren't always very recent

I like the Moose River and head North. I hope Moose Lake because that is were I am going this year.
