I am heading to ogish lake for the first time with my wife and kids. we were looking for a nice island campsite with good fishing around. and also any good spots to slip bobber for walleye (easiest for the kids). we are going in June.

Welcome to bwca.com!

No guarantees on whether you can get it or not. But site #785 is a beautiful island site on Ogishkemuncie. Check out the map# Just click on the balloons.

We caught some smaller northerns & smallies right from shore at this site. Also just to the south there is a small creek running in from Mueller lake which is another good spot. Plus in between there is also some good structure (dropoffs) you can check out.

Have a great trip,
TB

Not helpful to the questioner, but we scouted that portage into Mueller a few years back & it was a mess. I've seen old PMA portages that were in better shape. Wonder if anyone's cleared it.

Another not-helpful statement, but if you decide you want a quiet lake full of small pike, Spice Lake just off Ogish is just the ticket. Very private & very nice campsite.
