Hello all, looking to do a memorial weekend fishing trip but cant make it all the way to the BW or even the UP of michigan from northern Indiana and looking for some good fishing spots somewhere in the middle to upper parts of michigan. We have been looking at the Manistee Ntl. forest area, Baldwin area, and wondering if any of you have any experience in this area and can recommend any lakes to hit. we mainly want to fish lakes that dont get alot of attention and perhaps no boats (non motorized areas).
any recommendations would be great.
thanks

I have fished and camped around baldwin michigan, nice area, fished the PM. also camped at grand traverse bay fished the bay, betsie, and platte river. the bay is beautiful you can wade out several hundred yards to fish. At the end of May giant carp should be in the bay, it is a fly fishers paradise, 20lb carp that will take you deep into your backing. Also camped around Grayling, camped on the south branch of the AuSable river, fished the river and several small lakes in the area. the areas listed are also good in the fall if you like to hunt grouse or woodcock. Hope that helps.
Anthony
