We troll the SR9 Shad Rap, and the 3/8oz. Hot-N-Tot. A hundred feet of 10lb. test will get you 20ft. deep with the Rap, and 25ft. with the HNT. Both have really godd strong hooks.
Also, we drift twister tail grubs(3-5in) and Shad bodies on 1/4oz., 3/8oz., 1/2oz round head jigs. I pour the jigs on extra large hooks, I think(personal opinion) one large hook holds better than several small hooks. Also, these fish twist like caTFISH, and if you use a net it is easier to get one hook out of the net than trebles.

You can get any lure down to any depth with these. Snap Weights I use an Ambasitor baitcasting reel and count how many times the fairlead goes back and forth when I let line out, then I can always duplicate how much line I had out without taking in a linecounter reel. I like a Taildancer when I can get away with it but will add a snap weight if thats not working. Also you can get spoons and J-Raps etc. down where the fish are.
All Rapalas that wander are not lost.

According to the dive curve, the TDD-9 will dive to 20ft with 125ft. of 10# XT mono or 80ft. of 10/4 fireline. It maxes out at about 23ft. with 200ft. of mono and 26ft. with 200 ft. of fireline. I caught my first laker last year on Thomas with this bait in bleeding pearl.

Wow Arlo those look much more convenient than the three way swivel or Carolina rig methods for adding weight. And very good of them to supply non-lead weights. But at $47 for the kit, I'm gonna have to see if my fishing buddies want to share the cost.

quote fishguts: " Yup! Let out lots of line, I don't use snap swivels......tie on main line. Works good, good luck! ;-)"
Same here. Tie the line straight to the lure. I've had more success for lakers using a Deep Husky rapalas (about 20') than the taildancers (about 30')...
