Anyone fish the river north of Nina-Moose Lake around the Ramshead Creek area? Just wondering as I've passed through but never tried. Wondering if any Smallies or Walleye could be caught below the rapids south of there as well. Thanks!

Never fished there nor have I ever seen anyone fishing there in the dozen or so times I've gone through that area. Lake Agnes and the Boulder River, on the other hand, are great fishing destinations.

We've seen people fishing the Nina Moose on a few occasions. They were mainly catching hammer handles and smallies. The area around where it enters Agnes always looks like it could provide good spring crappie fishing.

I recall someone fishing the Nina Moose River. They caught some 18 inchers (walleye) and the site is shown on the map north of Nina Moose Lake (Boundary Waters Map Locations).
I passed a kid that had caught a couple of walleye in the river as I was portaging. I didn't try myself.

Never fished it, but 3 years ago I took my son on his first trip. We based camped on Agnes in late August. On our way out as we entered the stream/river a small pike about 15 inches long jumped into the boat. So funny!

One of those years the fish seemed to be everywhere(rare time)there were two canoes out fishing the river and we passed them. They had eater sized walleyes and smallies. It was mid June.

If you ever stay on Nina Moose Lake, the walleyes in there can be very dark colored, and perfectly edible. It's just something a little different than the ordinary.

Fished the Nina Moose River May 03' between Nina Moose and Agnes caught nice sized walleyes below some rapids at one of the portages. Casted 1/8 oz. jigheads and gulp minnow grubs.

Always end up moving quickly through on way to actual destinations. Always wonder though.

Thanks for all the responses! We have passed through but were always in a hurry. I don't have much time this trip to hit other lakes so thought I could try the river for a little variety.
