Heading up to Lake of the Woods for the summer, I'm thinking about camping and fishing a few days on Gunflint Lake. Any yea's or nah's ?? Going to go up through Tofte and Grand Marais, head up Gunflint then across to I-Falls. Not really looking for portages and such, I've got my own small boat,, just looking for some lakeside-camp fishing.... thanks....
my son, you are a fine fisherman !!! I miss my Dad
some nice campsites on the east end of gunflint lake, no bwca permit needed. the lake is 1/2 mn, 1/2 canada so you'll need a rabc and canadian license to fish the canadian side. no hp limit on gunflint. fishing for walleye, lake trout, smallmouth and northern. little gunflint is easily accessed right now with the high water and has been good for walleyes, too.
I have been up there twice. We stayed at Gunflint Lodge. We have never had luck catching anything but Northerns and Bass. There are a lot smallies in the lake and also in Magnetic. Where do you guys find or fish for the walleyes in that lake?
I've got a real nice 10ft bass boat, one seater with a 55# thrust trolling motor that I'm bringing with me. Will that be enough boat to fish Gunflint Lake and the other lakes around there ??,, barring 50 mph winds ect ????? I've also heard that Flour Lake may be a good spot to try , any info ?????? so many lakes , so little time !!
my son, you are a fine fisherman !!! I miss my Dad
