I will be camping in the fourtown horse area over Labor Day weekend. Which lake would offer me the best opportunity for a big Northern?

I'm thinking both are pretty good. We don't target pike much but I hear Fourtown has big pike and based on what we saw and caught last August on both lakes, they are there. Good structure and plenty of panfish for them to eat.

While I was unable to land "the big one" last year, I did have a follow to the boat of a 40+" and a mid to upper 30's last July on Fourtown in the 2 days we spent on that lake at the end of our loop. We had heard it was a good lake to try for a big pike, and I wasn't disappointed despite only having the follows (biggest caught was 29"). Both fish were raised in weedy bays in relatively shallow water (5-6' if I remember correctly) close to drops during mid-day hours.

Switching Gears-Pan Fish? So are we talking about Tasty Jumbo Perch, gills, or crappy? I'd like to get into that too. Any suggestions?

So they're not monsters but they are big gators, all ranging from 32"-37". All caught on Horse this past May for the opener. We had unbelievable fishing for pike and eyes on Horse this year. We found Mad_Angler's secret hump on Horse and just slaughtered the wallies for 2 evenings straight. It's early in the season so these are still a bit snaky. Mine on the right had a good amount of girth to her though.
