Here is one of our big walleyes from this weekend. Notice the eelpout tail hanging out of its mouth. This fish was caught in 14 ft of water but I'm guessing a day or two before we caught her, she had been feeding in much deeper water because it is my understanding that eel pout need cold water.

sweet...this year I caught a smallmouth that was spitting up everything while being reeled in. After landing, still had several mayfly larvae, a crawfish claw, 2 small leeches in his throat and still wanted more. Also caught several smallmouth spitting up juvenile yellow perch.

Those big girls are very light sensitive and have two choices on a sunny afternoon. They can drop into deeper water, which some do. However, the water is usually still pretty cool this time of year in 30 or 40 feet of water so they will often hang out in shady areas. A rocky reef can provide a lot of good shade and feeding opportunities.

I saw a snake one time in my river in Ohio swim by me with a catfish in it's mouth. I had a snapping turtle grab a smallie I was reeling in yesterday. That was the first time I ever had a turtle grab a fish while I was fighting it.

That is one lucky turtle. I have had them eat fish on a stringer like most everyone else but, a moving live fish musta been a treat. Then again I assume you didn't let him get away with stealing your fish..lol Snake and a catfish..cool.
