Me and a few old high school chums are taking boat and motor through the truck portage to Basswood Oct 8th...going to camp somewhere in the Washington Island area.
Can anyone give some old farts any walleye/northern fishing tips for that area? Much obliged and God speed.

3 nice campsites on the south side of Washington Is. Sand beach is furthest to the east, nice Red Pine site just to the west of the point separating these two sites. A little further to the west is a nice site with sunset potential.

Be sure to check out the structure around the little island between Washington and Lincoln.

I'll be curious about your Oct fishing, let us know how it goes.

JLK...thanks for the info. We normally go in through Pipestone and concentrate on The Narrows and Pipestone Falls...we've had great luck there in the past trolliong with heavy weights with magnum rappalas. This year one of my buddies had shoulder surgery and we decided to take it easy and go the truck portage....will still rent portage wheels and go to Pipestone one day and fish the Narrows and the Falls...we come out on Oct 12th, so will file you a report shortly after....again, thanks!
