I am coming from an area with REAL fishing pressure...like south of Duluth, to the Rio Grande(actually, Okla. for me). The fish you seek have not seen fishing pressure of the lower states...however, they are aware of animals that seek THEM as food. Approach potential fishing areas quietly, drifting in, quiet lure entry, work lures as if they are nervous food fish........entry into the environment, to the flow of life, is key. When you tie on a Fluoro-vescent-octo-blulbous thang, what is your goal? When you tie on a floating minnow...quiet...curious, but WANTING to live, and eat, to just go on...living.
Fish have the IQ of a Meth Cook. Just about anything looks like food...but...they are all about environment,..
To catch the biggest fish, the winner must be the smallest fish

find cabbage beds and fish leeches on slipbobbers, plain hook and sinker or small 1/8 oz chart/green/white fireball jigs. 4-18 feet of water. 90% of fmy bwca walleye fishing is 6-15 FOW. Weed walleyes are easy to pattern with out electronics which is why I like to target weeds so much. Also look at points, choke areas and areas with current such as rivers and between islands. Slip bobbers in the eve of the campsite almost always seme to catch a few eyes.
