I have read a number of posts that talk about the great pike fishing on Insula. I have made two trips to the lake and have caught very few pike. If anyone can provide any direction on where to fish and what to use it would be great.

The best fishing for any species of fish on Insula, is the Northern (no pun intended) end. I have not chaught tons of pike there, but the ones I have gotten were large.

LT is right northern part is best and we caught quite a number of them in the 24" range. We just fish for walleyes and SBs and catch them by accident.

What were you using for bait, and what time of year were you there? With as little success as you have had, I would assume crankbaits. Live minnows would be a better choice.
If a person wants a trophy pike, the best bet is to fish reefs in late October/early November when the whitefish/Tullibee are spawning. Your chance for a 20 lb+ Pike are greatly increased then. Use a dead Tullibee with a steel leader, big sinker, large hook and big bobber, let it hang.

Of course I'm right. There is one lake I am very qualified to give info on, and that is Insula. The northern end is no doubt the best fishing. I have gotten some 30+ in pike there. My uncle once got a 40in pike there.

We camped on the island due west of the Williamson II island or whatever its called. Anyway, we had good luck catching pike along the reeds along the larger island to the south. Most of these were smaller, but we did manage to grab a nice 29" one for dinner by trolling a 5 of diamonds running toward the Williamson island.

I'm a novice angler, but I caught back to back 36" pike on Insula pulling a fake mouse on the the surface well behind my canoe. I was at the the first Island campsite on the west end and trolled along the south shore. be prepared though, that's a lot of teeth in the bottom of the canoe with no net or other equipment.
