I'm heading to EP 24 mid-August. I haven't been to the BW in about 16 years, and I wasn't as avid a fisher-person back then as I am now. I intend to do as much fishing as possible. We're heading up the Basswood River to Crooked Lake. Will I encounter any trout lakes on that route? I'll be mainly fishing for walleyes and trout (if they're there). I'm looking for some pointers on bait and lures. I plan to take leaches for the 'eyes. Has anyone had luck with whistler jigs? What about slip corking? And what about casting - recommended lures?

Very good lake crooked is, try to concnetrate on mid lake structure and anything thats close to deep water at that time of year, leeches should shine but dont forget the search baits for active fish, spinnerbaits twister tails and rattle traps.
