I have a group of 4 that we are putting in at EP 54 Sea Gull Lake on Saturday August 4th and will be making our way to Cherry via South Arm of Knife and all the little lakes in between. Probably making our way out along the border and Monument Portage then heading south.

What lakes should be good for what fish early August. We typically go in Early June and I've only been to the BW one other time in August fishing wasn't very good that year, even though weather was!

I saw good reports in June for South Arm of Knife, and Cherry for Walleyes, but June was a long time ago :) Heard Lake Trout in Lake of the Clouds and lakes around there, Heard about the Trophy Walleyes in Red Rock, I've also hear Alpine is a good lake.

So:
1) Any fish reports from this area recently?
2) Any tips for Early August Fishing in this area?
3) What bait are they hitting on right now?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't know about eyes' in Cherry (maybe Amoeber??),, but the LT have #'s but not necc size. Use a little Cleo spoon or a deep diving crank making sure to let out enough line if trolling from canoe. The cliffs on CHerry are amazing!!! A long time ago on Cherry,, I saw lake trout cruising the shorline like carp in a flooded bay. It was crazy. One of my favorite lakes I have never been back to.

I got them switched up. Amoeber has lakers but no eyes,, and Cherry both lakers and eyes.
Alpine is a good/excellent fishing lake.
IF I was in the area in AUG-- I'd target SA of Knife. Excellent SMB during the day and eyes at low light periods. SMB on the rocky shores/points and eyes on the reefs.... any current at eddy falls,, fish it.
