I have done close to 40 trips to the Quetico and love the fishing there. Should I try Woodland Caribou? Whats your thoughts on that park as far as the fishing is concerned and what species should I expect to catch? Plus are the requirements the same like permits, etc.?

Yes, try Woodland Caribou. There is a private forum you can join about WCPP. There is a lot of information, and I believe information on species of fish you can catch. We went last August and LOVED it. We caught fish in every lake we fished. We caught northerns and walleyes, but there are also lake trout. It was a trip of a lifetime. Check out Red Lake Outfitters website also for more information. Harlan would help you out!

For the 2013 season, I'm headed into the only region of the park known to have smallies, so that species is also present. There are a few lakes that have the blue walleye variant. And the presence of walleye and/or lakers is frequently dependent upon which flowage you are in.

By-in-large, you will find that the fish are not acquainted with a fishing lure. My experience is that walleye & lakers tend to run marginally larger than in, say, Quetico.

If it's fish you're after, you'll enjoy WCPP. In addition, you'll find SOLITUDE! Can't put a price on that.
