After a trip cut short last year and never making it to our destination of Long Island lake, we are looking to go back and have a successfully trip this year. We will be going in from the cross bay EP on June 6th.
I'm looking for some fishing tips as far as spots, techniques, and how deep to be fishing.
I live in the north west TC suburbs and I'm used to fishing large mouth on spinners and top water frogs, and northern on spinners and DDs. My tackle box is full of those baits and lures, but I'm thinking I'm a need to grab some new lures for the trip. So if anyone could help me out that would be amazing! Any suggestions on some decent line would be nice too.
Primarily looking to fish for northern, bass, and troute.
I don't profess to being an expert on LI Lake, but I have passed thru it twice with the last trip being a base camp w/kids.....plenty of Northerns...look for the shallow bays/weed beds....I know the lake has lake trout, but i have never been there in early june....Both trips, i was there in early july and the water was too warm and they were deep....as far as Bass, I have spoken to several outfitters and they confirmed my findings....few if any in that lake....now head N a couple of portages to Cross bay and Ham, and you will find plenty of bass and walleye.....
