hes going on a lakers/brookies only trip in may. his tackle selection is spartan....6 cleos and some panther martins. this made me re-think my lures for a later may Q trip. this is what im thinking, for a laker trip....
little cleos, 2 of each. blue/nickle, green/nickel, nickle.
deep thunder sticks, 2 of each. blue/silver, purple/silver.
shallow thunder sticks, 2, black/silver.
thinking a couple of silver vibrax spinners too.
good enough?

Sounds good to me, I would maybe add one extra deep and shallow thunder stick in either perch, gold or chartreuse. I used a lot of shallow thunder sticks in perch before rapala bought them 10 years ago or so. They weren't as good when rapala changed the designs, then when they changed them back to the original designs they were money once more. Still one of my favourites.

Jan, try little cleos in nickle/chartreuse and hammered nickle/blue. I have had good luck with both of these colors.

If it were me, I'd throw in a couple of these- Rooster Tail spinners, in chartreuse and the biggest size you can find.
You probably don't want to mess with dead bait (don't know if you can even bring it in to Canada), but that's the sure-fire way of catching trout that time of year. Fish it on the bottom in 25-35 feet near a drop.
Or, you could just gillnet/poison/dynamite a sucker when you get there... ;)

You can't go wrong with a flutter spoon and a dipsy, although they may not be very deep when you go, but a few years ago it was a late spring water temp was in the low 40's and we caught plenty with the dipsy, and with deep diving taildancers purple irredescent color
