I agree they grow up much to soon, the last time I had all 3 of my sons together was 4 years ago [before the youngest 2 left for the Navy] on a Ontario canoe trip to the Brightsands river, great trip, great canoe buddies. I don't want to pass judgment but where's that young man's PFD? Looks like warm weather but accidents happen to good people and I'd have a hard time living with myself if anything happened to one of the boys because Dad didn't insist they wear their PFDs, they all swim like fish...but. I'm going to remedy that not getting together in Aug. with an 8 day trip to WCPP and I can assure you they will wear PFDs whenever they are in a canoe. Don't mean to rant but that's my thoughts. My son Alex, 15yo now...this coming June will our 7th consecutive year to Quetico together. I agree, they grow up too fast...not looking forward to the year his life is too busy to the point we can't make our trip together. Can't imagine going without him...I would probably be too heart broken to go alone?!

Never forget the day I took Alex fishing locally when he was about 3yo...walking together carrying our stuff back to the car an angler kept staring at us. As we passed he said, "you remind me of my son when he was little...now that he's older he doesn't come anymore". The picture of him shore fishing was from that day...

Sorry for so many pictures I always get carried away when it comes to my son and fishing.

I've had many fishing buddies over the years, but there is none more special than my son, Ben. He might just like fishing as much as I do :)

Here's my newest one. My grand daughter Brylee, holding her Disney Princess rod and reel.

Don"t know why my picture is sideways, but she's a keeper!

My special fishing buddy is my husband of almost 32 years. Wouldn't want to fish with anyone else. (Except maybe our grown sons or grandkids)

Well I do but he is not very little anymore.

Think my grandson will be more into this year and I can't wait.

I have friend who I grew up with and have know since I was a 1 year old. We have fished together for close to 50 years now. It all started when I was 3 or 4 years old when we fished at the local farm pond with bamboo poles . the pond is still there but the farm is not.The very small body of water is now surrounded by luxury homes. Over the years, When referring to different aspects of fishing, we have developed a strange language that no one else understands.
Indecently, my friends boat ,which he has owned since 96, was totaled last week while traveling on the interstate. Another driver just changed lanes into the boat as it was being towed on a trailer. I was not there but it was a real mess, fishing lures all over the highway. No one was hurt but the boat. It was very emotional to see the boat destroyed, like a cowboy and losing his horse, tom

My girl Karma was my favorite fishing buddy for 12 years before she passed away. I swear she had a fish finder imbedded in her, we could be trolling or bobber fishing and could always tell by the way she was looking at the water when a fish was about to bite. She loved nothing more than sitting next to me in the boat or on shore fishing for hours at a time, and loved the excitement of reeling the fish in.

This knucklehead has some big paws to fill, but she's catching on quickly and some day will be a great fishing partner :-)

This is my new fishing buddy...she goes almost everywhere with me. She doesn't talk much, and thinks I'm great!

One of my two fishing buddy sons (now 44 years old) was fishing off the Louisiana coast and emailed me a photo of a 168 lb yellow fin tuna he caught yesterday. He called me on the way back to GA today and told me what a great trip he had. I fished the LA coast five years ago and had great success but did not catch one nearly as big as this one.

My fishing buddy Scott and I have not tripped together for 22 years. We went to high school together and did many Quetico trips together in the 1980's. We are doing a trip starting June 15. After visiting my 83 year old mother in the hospital as she has had a stroke, I got together with Scott tonight to go over our gear and finalize our plans. Afterwards we went out to dinner and he brought photo albums of those trips. A very nostalgic evening, sad and happy at the same time.

Heading up to Gunflint Lodge in a little over a week. Family of 5 with three kids; 11, 9 & 5, so everyone will get time on the lake fishing for Lakers, pike and walleye; which should be a lot of fun. I am however, most excited about indoctrinating my newest fishing buddy to the mix...we'll see how this hyper, knuckleheaded Wheaten Terrier does in the boat. Should be fun for the entire family.
