Iam new to the dipsey for trout, and found out many different sizes, and colors. Which would you use for L. trout? Any help, thanks. P.S. Heading for Pickerel June 18th

Maybe the smallest it takes a big rod and heavy line to pull a 1 or 0. I use 30# power pro line and rod holders for #1 dipsey on Lake Erie. You would need a rod holder and a strong paddler to fish the bigger dipseys.

Here's the size I use. Its the middle size I think like 4 1/8 inch size dives to 50 feet, or if the water is colder the 3 1/4 inch would work too it dives to 35 feet. here's a picture

Also remember to keep your pole about horizontal to the water surface, with the rod laying right on the gunwale and I hold the rod between my legs, hold on tight b/c when they hit you'll know. I use a heavy rod and use braided line like 6lb test eqivalent maybe 20 lb test. I use heavy mono from the dipsy to the flutter spoon. I usually let out quite a bit of line maybe 60 to 90 feet to get the dipsy down to trolling depth then we troll pretty slow like 1.5 to 2 mph we use our gps to gauge speed. Then it's just putting in the time lots of paddling but once you hit one troll through that area again odds are you'll hit more then one. Here's how I hold my rod
