We have finally decided to do some ice fishing up in the bdub instead of Lake of the Woods. My question is since everyone seems to reference Smitty's on Snowbank, is this the best spot or just the most convenient. We are looking for more than just walleye. Yes, they would be Ok, but we would like a mix of Lakers, Pike, crappies, or sunfish also. I think the eyes have worn us down and we would love to see some other action. I am getting a brochure and have talked to the proprietor at Smitty's but that usually only tells one side of the story. Anyone else have any ideas. Please remember that I have a winter group of friends that doesn't want to do any "real" work to find the fish, they would rather have the house set up and not have to walk over a mile if they can avoid it, plus they would like a comfortable lodge at night. Thanks for any insight.

i dont think theres a whole lot of options, cause a permanent house will more than likely be outside the BW boundary's. an option(that i've done) is to stay in a motel in grand marias and drive down the gunflint or forest roads and walk into some lakes, many options for walk in trout lakes in the winter in cook county that lie outside and inside the BW boundary's. bring in some kind of a sled and a hand and motorized auger. at the end of the day you'll back at your cozy hotel room :>)
